The Classic All-Steel Folding Biken- the Brompto C Line Explore

Designed for today's cities, but refined from the original

Handmade in their London factory since 1975 with the original 3-part fold. This folding bike is compact and robust, yet still fun to ride. Owners have taken C Line on trips round the world, across the country, and even to the South Pole, despite it being designed to withstand the rigors of city life. However, most of the time, they are used in cities 364 days out of the year (their recommendation is one day off for an annual maintenance).

The Classic All Steel Folding Bike

Four decades of refinement.

Although constantly improved, the classic all-steel bike still retains its basic concept - a stable city commuter. Our owners have benefited from every change we've made since the beginning. Trends won't matter here. In addition to riding and folding better than ever before, the bike's quality is better too because of its refined geometry and improved parts. They specialize in crafting the best bikes by specializing in one area, such as steel brazing and wheel building.

Bringing any city around the world to its corners with a magic carpet. Since 1975, that has been their vision, which has guided them throughout the years. A large part of Brompton's success can be attributed to Andrew Ritchie's ingenious engineering. In addition, we must all be brave enough to do things differently. A team of 300+ experts in engineering, design, fabrication, mechanics, inventors, and manufacturers work at their West London factory and Sheffield welding division to make the world's highest quality folding bikes.

ENGINEERED IN LONDON

The design

Their products have been engineered for practicality and quality since day one. Their ability to stay true to our principles is enhanced by working together under one roof. Their dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail makes them stand out in the industry.

They regard the Brompton as a bike with personality, regardless of whether or not it was intended this way. In the same way, its location is important. There are several parts whose names are derived from the people who designed and made their factory machines.

Craftsmanship of the highest quality

It is a handcrafted process to build all Brompton bicycle frames. A process called brazing is used to assemble steel frames. In-house training is provided for their brazers for 18 months. Over 18 years of craft experience are required from some Master Brazers. Each frame is marked with a small signature.

A specialist factory in Sheffield TIG welds the titanium framesets, 300 km north of our London factory. In order to do this process, hands, feet, and eyes must be coordinated. Craftspeople have unique weld styles, just like brazing.
