Amazon Prime uae subscription, the paid subscription service offering advantages like free next-day delivery, discounts and streaming video, is now available from the UAE. "It is announced that the UAE will soon be joining the family of Prime countries on June 11," Jamil Ghani, Amazon's vice president of Prime & Marketing International, informed The National.

" Amazon.ae is launched about a month ago and are super excited that about the launch of Prime as a fast follower," Ronaldo Mouchawar, co-founder of Souq and vice president of Amazon Mena, informed The National. "I think for the consumers in the region certainly it is a game changer." The debut of the program follows the shift of Souq.com into Amazon.ae on May 1 - almost two decades later Souq was obtained by the US e-commerce giant for about $580 million (Dh2.13 billion).

E-commerce spending in the UAE is expected to grow by 170 percent to $27.1 bn in 2022, from $9.7bn in 2017, according to a 2018 report by Fitch Solutions Macro Research. Amazon doesn't disclose the number of consumers within any particular locale, but Souq.com attracted 45 million visits a month before its re-branding into Amazon.ae. UAE customers can register to get a 30-day complimentary trial of Prime and then pay an introductory promotional cost of Dh12 a month before the end of October. Then, Prime subscriptions will price Dh16 per Dh140 or two months each year.

The delivery advantages for Prime subscribers consist of free next-day delivery across the UAE without a minimum purchase on hundreds of thousands of products, and a 50 percent reduction for same-day delivery covering Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, and Ajman. Prime members may also find free delivery in six to nine business days for global orders over Dh100 on five million Prime-eligible products shipped from Amazon US.


Members will have exclusive access to purchasing deals and Prime Day, Amazon's yearly global shopping event to occur sometime this summer.
